What is the unique capacity of art for civic dialogue?
How can a cultural center in a public university act as a forum for democracy in action?
How can we use historical perspective and draw upon the assets of our cultural heritage to address
contemporary issues? How can we facilitate the formation of coalitions across diverse students and communities for social change?

Arts-Based Civic Dialogue (ABCD) is a project guide of the Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center (LCC) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) working to increase public dialogue on pressing contemporary issues. Join us for this unique opportunity to learn what frameworks LCC is using to activate a public mural for civic engagement. We will explore the unique capacity of arts and culture for creating a public forum for discussing pressing social  issues and getting people to better understand one another
