Rebeca Rivas is a PhD Candidate at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her research examines the history of lucha libre in the El Paso-Ciudad Juárez borderlands from 1900 to 2015, focusing on performance, gender, sexuality, and sound studies. Drawing on archival research, oral histories, and field recordings, Rivas explores how lucha libre stages border politics and offers a powerful site for negotiating identity, belonging, and power in the borderlands.

Sponsored by LALS, Gender and Women's Studies (GWS), and the Latino Cultural Center (LCC).
