Download iCal FileUniversity of Illinois Chicago (UIC) students have played an important role in undocumented social movements, both in Chicago and in the U.S. Notably, they led the first National Coming Out of the Shadows Day, an event that transformed the immigrant rights debate. During this presentation, we will share how we collected oral histories from past UIC student activists who participated in these movements from the mid-2000s to the 2010s to create a public digital archive. We will report on our process of preserving their oral histories and what these can teach us about organizing in the present.
