The federal government has opened the largest immigrant family detention center in Dilley, Texas with a capacity of over 2000 women and children seeking asylum, most of whom are from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Every day mothers and children fleeing poverty and violence are criminalized and detained. They are strategically held in remote locations, making it difficult for them to find attorneys to help them apply for legal protection.
