Staff Accountant with The Catholic Charities

Basic Functions:

  • Responsible for a variety of fiscal and accounting tasks to ensure compliance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies in the course of performing job expectations;
  • Responsible for reviewing expenditures for assigned programs, grants, billings and/or projects;
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of cash receipts, deposits, journal entries, other required reports and documentation to ensure compliance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies in the course of performing job expectations;
  • Analyzes financial data, reconciles variances, and communicates findings to the Accounting Manager, Controller, and program staff;
  • Reconciles subledgers and/or other detailed financial data;
  • Researches financial discrepancies and communicates his/her recommendations to supervisor on suggested adjustments to accounts, when needed;
  • Communicates with and is the first point of contact for various funders and/or auditors in consultation with his/her supervisory chain, as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with program staff, internal departments, and external partners to resolve any accounting issues.

Preferred Requirements: B.S./B.A. in Accounting.  Three years of accounting experience.

Minimum Requirements: B.S./B.A. in Finance, Business Administration with extensive college level accounting casework.  One year of accounting experience.

Other Requirements: Proficiency in Excel program.
