We are proud to announce that LALS students Maya Rivera and Joshua Sandoval have been awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Undergraduate Research Award (CURA) for the 2025-2026 academic year. They will be working under the direction of Assistant Professor Esther Díaz Martín as research assistants to develop the Latinx Sound Map digital map project and on translating her book Radiophonic Feminisms: Latina Voices in the Digital Age of Broadcasting. These experiences support the integral mission of the Undergraduate Research Experience program by making research an integral part of the undergraduate academic experience at UIC creating mutually beneficial research relationships between students and faculty researchers. Students benefit by gaining valuable research skills and relevant experience, developing professional relationships with faculty members and other researchers, and earning hourly pay and credit hours. Faculty benefit from research assistance by talented, motivated undergraduates and provide research training for the next generation of scholars. For more information visit https://cura.uic.edu/ .
