Bianca Rosa Pérez

M.A. Student

Bianca Rosa Perez is the daughter of Mexican immigrants, a Chicana, and a first-generation college student. In May 2019, she graduated Cum Laude with High Distinction and LAS Honors from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with her B.A. in Latina/Latino Studies and B.S. in Clinical/Community Psychology. During her time at UIUC, she pursued her many passions by interning at the Counseling Center, being heavily involved in MEChA de UIUC, working at La Casa Cultural Latina, performing improv, exhibiting her artwork, and volunteering as an art teacher’s assistant at her former high school.

Her undergraduate senior honors thesis explored how family, peer groups, and media influence Latina body-image construction, which she presented on at the Latina/Latino Studies Major Symposium. At UIC, she plans to continue researching this topic as an Access Fellow.
