Latin American and Latino Studies are interdisciplinary fields of study that provide insights into the culturally and ethnically diverse populations of the Americas. These fields open the door to examine and develop an understanding of the still developing global and transnational scenarios that shape our contemporary experiences. We believe that knowledge production about the Latin American region and the Latinx population of the United States is essential to navigate defining current cultural, social, and political processes. We also seek to incorporate the values that sprung from the social justice movements of the 60s and 70s and explore the racial, ethnic, linguistic, and sexual diversity of our underrepresented populations.
