LALS Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Celebrations
During the 1970s, Puerto Rican and Mexican communities came together to build what is now the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS). Founded in 1974, the department is a space of learning and research that focuses on Latin America and communities of Latin American origin in the city and nation. Our speakers included activists involved in the founding of the unit, as well as former directors who helped to build it.
