Welcome new faculty

The Latin American and Latino Studies Program at UIC is pleased to welcome several new faculty to our Program.

We are joined by Andreas Feldmann who holds a joint appointment in LALS and Political Science. Andreas' areas of expertise include human rights, population uprooting, political violence and terrorism, and international cooperation and development. Andreas is teaching the MA seminar titled Latinos and Latin America in Transnational Context.

Helena Olea Rodríguez holds a visiting lectureship in both LALS and Criminology, Law and Justice Studies, where she will be teaching classes and conducting research. Helena's focus is on human rights, gender studies, immigration, refugee studies and statelessness. For the Fall 2014 semester Helena will teach a course on Gender in Latin America.

Lorena Garcia, currently an Associate Professor of Sociology, has also  joined the faculty of LALS. This Fall she will be teaching Issues of Race, Class and Gender Among Latinos.
