About

I am a first generation college graduate who grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. I received my B.A. in Latin American and Latino Studies and Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Graduating Magna Cum Laude.

After Graduation, I began doing research with the University of California-Berkeley on the Puerto Rican Diaspora of the Humboldt Park community. I was also participated in the Summer Institute on Climate and Environment (SICE) Scholars Program and Fellows Program. Throughout my research, my Fellow peers and I were able to create Project Jibaro, which is an Urban Agricultural proposal/ Iniaitive for the community of Humboldt Park. Our plan is build a mitigation strategies to climate change and environmental Justice through the use of hydroponic and greenhouse rooftop gardens along Paseo Boricua.

My research interest are climate change, natural disaster preparedness, migration patterns, Afro-Latinidad studies, urban planning and policy, and Puerto Rican diaspora studies.

Currently, I have been working as an assistant at the Digitize the Barrio Archival Project of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center. I am also an active member of the Climate Committee of the Puerto Rican Agenda of Chicago.
