About
Irving Moran was raised in Elgin, Illinois, where he has worked with the Northwest suburban immigrant community as a paralegal with Centro de Informacion during 2022. In 2023, he returned to University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) to finish his degree and gain the knowledge and understanding of immigration matters to better serve the community that helped raise him. After graduating from UIC with a bachelors in Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS), he returned for the summer to work with Centro as a project specialist in their Support Municipalities for Asylum Seeker Services (SMASS) team to provide support to recent arrivals in his hometown.
As a masters student in LALS, he hopes to pursue his research interests which include: migration, LGBTQ+ migration, queer activism, undocumented organizers and immigrant-led social movements. After graduating from the masters program, he hopes to continue working with nonprofits and organizers in advocating and providing support to queer and immigrant communities in the U.S.
