About
Cecilia Rasgado is an emerging Chicana scholar, educator, mentor, and activist. She is deeply committed to immigration rights, indigenous sovereignty, and is currently involved in several grassroots initiatives in the Chicago area. Cecilia earned her bachelor’s degree in Chicano & Latino Studies with a focus on intersectional feminism from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Cecilia has contributed to the Chicano & Latino Studies field through her thesis titled, “Recovery of Latina Identity and Development of Feminist Power: The Journey of Latina Students in Predominantly White Midwestern Institutions.” This work explores the resilience of Latina students navigating predominantly white academic spaces and sheds light on the intersection of identity and Chicana feminism.
Cecilia is passionate about supporting the unique needs of students of color in education and highlighting the connections between ethnic studies, critical thinking in education, decolonizing curriculum, and culturally relevant education. Through her scholarship, Cecilia Rasgado aims to amplify the voices of her community through oral histories and to promote social change.
